While working his busy 2011 New Year's Eve shift, this carriage horse was clearly looking for a drink of water from the water trough on Central Park South. Sorry horse - no water for you. You see, the carriage drivers that supposedly love you and care for you are too cheap to provide adequate drinking water for you as you toil away day after day making them wealthy. No instead there was nothing but garbage and dirt in the water trough. Now keep working horse, or you'll end up on a long ride to Mexico or Canada. Yes, these drivers love their horses.
Being a horse owner my whole life, I must point out these horses are VERY durable amazing creatures that love having jobs... but they deserve the most respect we could give them for hauling our lazy butts around. Carriage horses are a pretty sight to see, but it's WRONG. If they had enough supply of water, feed, had regular vet check ups, a nice stall + pasture to relax in, and enough horses to rotate shifts so one horse didn't have to slave away all hours of the day, i'd be completely for it.

At the demo today (1/22/2012) I saw a horse eating icy snow in the freezing cold (which lowers his core temperature even further) because he was so thirty. It was heartbreaking.

Here is a new development about the taxes and revenues of the horse carriage industry: The entire is shaking with the letters that they received from IRS and USCIS. USCIS asked the employers to return the I9 forms for their employees, as the IRS asked the employers to get the SS-8 forms filled out and returned. This is the end of the road. We will not be seeing these pretty creatures on the streets of New York, overtiming, going to Times Square at 9pm, overloading more than 4 adults.

Plus Horses don't belong in the city's in my opinion especially with all the bad cases of the Carriage horses...Thank you nadiaNYC for letting us know ur information. Who lives there can make a difference. I'm in another State.

There are only a few of them in the city and have NOT found one in the 25 years I've lived here in NYC...not a single water trough have water. I have seen spit and all kinds of garbage but no water for the enslaved horse. Sickening!!!
