I stepped off of arena for a bit to update my PvE gear so it is current with patch 3.3. While I despise doing PvE, I gotta admit I enjoy that these "Fall of the Lich King" dungeons give even the well geared / skilled group trouble.

I half-made this video into a how-to video, highlighting things you should watch out for if you are a healer. The main thing I noticed about these three dungeons are the dispel types that the 4 healing classes can and cannot handle. For druids, the ramp trash going up towards the blizzard cave in Pit of Saron give me the most trouble- as I cannot cleanse any of those disease DoTs which rip apart my party well after they've cleared the trash. I can only imagine how tough it is for priests when they have to deal with the 10 waves of mobs in HoR as they can do nothing about the Rogue's 2 sets of 3-stacked poisons, and the Hunter's arrow debuff which increases spell damage on the target.

Kind of makes me curious as to how the mechanics differ between the 4 healing classes when it comes to these three instances. :)

  • I'm also a resto druid and the part that gives me the most trouble are the two trash mobs immediately after ick with the flamebearers. I have an incredibly hard time keeping up with their fire AoE because the tank and melee DPS take a crapload of damage. On top of that I think they can teleport behind you. Do you have trouble with these guys too? I'm not sure I ever noticed any disease dots killing my party... it was mostly the fire nova.

  • @juj1n

The fire mobs do hellfire, which is usually what will take out the melee players - it's gonna depend on your group setup - Interrupting and Silencing them constantly will be your best counter, but still, you have to let the tank get the initial aggro so you don't get 1shotted (by 5 caster bolts in your face). If you're running without a paly/shaman/priest, I'll bet that you'll notice the heaping disease DoT damage once they cast them. o_O =)

  • nice vid - but i'd rather suggest to show icc 10 / 25 ... much more interesseting and challanging !

5-man-pve is just too easy in my opinion

  • @Toan1988

Yeah, my guild's supposed to run it tonight. Although I might not record it since it'll be my first attempt - and I should learn the fights first =O

  • My only problem with PoS is Forgemaster Garfrost's aura, im concentrating on keeping everyoe else alive i die myself lol i just cant get past the frost aura as a resto shammy

  • Your videos are each time better 5/5

  • yh it is a tricky fight

  • Ew morgan less gay pve more pvp =)

  • Nice. You explained some stuff that I hadnt noticed yet :P As a Tank/Healer I can say that I much prefer Tanking this place to healing it. But thats probably cause my Prot gear is better than my Holy gear. There are parts where I really struggle as a healer, and parts where I really struggle as a tank. DPS has it so easy in here! They dont even have to THINK about what they do. If they get a good tank and a good healer, then the group will do well.

  • The instances are actually pretty fun for the most part. HoR is just kind of tricky but we figured how to stack in a corner to let all the mobs come to us while I (holy pally) los in a corner and just bomb heals. The place isn't that bad to heal as a holy pally... then again i have like 750 haste and 30k+ unbuffed mana.

10 and 25 man are actually pretty fun so far. I really love the Gunship Battle and Lady Deathwhisper fights... hope the rest of the place is just as exciting.

  • @Toan1988 @Mastermoviez

Yeah, trickiest part of HoR 1st room is how fast the tank gathers up the ranged trash, and how well the healer is protected from aggro by your teammates. So many debuffs and CCs- I particularly hate Warriors, they Shield Bash healers out of heals for 8 seconds - enough time to wipe!
