What is the problem? Tell them you will give them everything they want, have the fed print up some more worthless money. Get the captain back and then blow them out of the water. Obama has no problem lieing to the US public (Middle class tax cut, Iraq, UN, etc...) Why should he care about lieing to these guys?

Either take the example of the French and go in with the Navy SEALS, or pay the damn ransom. Or even better, pay the ransom and then go in with the SEALS to take back the ransom (also a French idea btw).

This is a no brainer, doesnt take much thought at all, and to let this go into days leaves me questioning the competence of Obama. Proven poor judgement of character in his cabinet members, lacks making the correct solution in finances, bows in the present of other leaders, and now a mini crisis on the high seas and he doesnt have a clue of what to do or doesnt care. Jimmy Carter II, God help us.

I think the west instead of wasting millions of dollars for pirates watch, it would be better to spend that money in helping Somalia to have a government and peace. That would be the only solution to stop piracy and prevent Somalia from being a safe heaven for the extremists

Here's an idea for dealing with the problem. Take a page from the Royal Navy's book on dealing with U-Boats; Q-ships. A medium size freighter loaded with things to keep it bouyant. Under cover on the deck, heavy gun emplacements. After a few dozen of those boys don't make it back home, maybe they'll get the idea that piracy isn't the smartest damn idea.
