Fond memories of when Coles brought The Gondolas to the famous Portland Fair every November, 1940s '50s and '60s. I can recall the smell of the steam; the thrill of its piecing steam whistle; Mr Cole - face black with coal dust shovelling coal into its boiler then dashing round to change the music; and the wonderful sound of that organ. Pity Thursford is so far from us!

I think a carousel like this is what's known as a scenic railway. According to a book that I've seen at the local library.

P.S, if you have got £50000, you can help to restore an engine which will be renamed after you!!!
