You're right, you have every right to say what you think. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I'm not going to argue with you further, 1. It's 4:30 in the morning and I have to go to work in 3 hours, and am trying to figure out why I'm awake in the first place - and 2. Obviously our opinions differ and are not going to change, and therefore we are at an impasse.

Well music and sound is subjective. And I AM sorry to say this to you because maybe you don't realize it and I'd rather be saying that he did a great job but...IMO he didn't. Plus you're on the internet...this is YouTube and I can say what i think. It DOES NOT sound good on my end. Whether it was the band or the post team or simply because this video is compressed to shit. It was still his job and yeah I think he didn't do it very well! Sorry.

Ever notice when people say "I'm sorry to say" it's usually followed or preceded by something that an individual is usually not really sorry about? Regardless, I still think my cousin does an amazing job, and apparently so does David Letterman. Also, I'll say it again - usually it's the BAND that tests the equipment to find if the levels are adequate for their music. You don't know what happened behind the scenes, and thus have no right to judge - regardless of your profession.

To be fair The Mars Volta is known to mess up their sound a lot. I think they don't necessarily understand their dynamics. But even then I'm sorry to say your cousin did a very poor job capturing their sound as well as getting basic levels for a "live" television situation. The other band sounds great tho. And I'm actually a recording and mix engineer myself.

That engineer happens to be my cousin, who happens to have worked for D.L. for quite a long time. What exactly is it that you do that you have the right to judge whether or not the engineer did his job correctly? Also, pretty sure all the instruments and levels are tested prior to the show, so if there's anything you don't like - talk to the Musicians, they're usually the ones who test everything.
