Everything I thought and felt as a child and into my adulthood, being raised as a confused Catholic, a gay one too. Just didn't have the words and eloquence of this clever enlightened man

I always come back to this speech...whenever I feel victimised or guilty about who I am and what I believe in, it is this speech that I remember. Stephen has in 20 mins summarised everything I feel about the Catholic Church and would never be able to articulate. Thank you Mr Fry.

@IAmTheSecretOfMana So if you want me to send condescending remarks your way I can do it just as well as you can. The church doesnt hate gays bc the church is very forgiving. Perhaps you should study a concept before jumping to all sorts of conclusions. The church says to love the sinner but deny the sin. A person who bashes something before really knowing it is simply a bigot. Youre right, this conversation is a waste of time. You are too dense to understand that I dont care about YOUR beliefs.

You cannot change a church, a faith, that has been around for 2000 years bc its teaching IS the teaching of Christ. You have no right to tell me what is ok & what is not ok. @catchzz Yes, mate it's stuck in it's way. Doing what it's been told to do for the last 2,000 years despite the changes, fluctuations and evolutions in society. It can still teach gods word whilst taking into account these changes. We have moved on as human beings and thinkers, how can the church not even consider that? I'm not Christian, I do avoid the church, because of view points like 'homosexuality is wrong'. You keep saying that. I'm NOT trying to change the church. LISTEN!

@catchzz You haven't said I couldn't. That's not what i'm challenging you on. I'm challenging you thinking Stephen Fry is an idiot. I don't think the church should teach Homosexuality is wrong, because it is right, in my opinion. THAT part of the teaching is disgusting. But I can't change it, I won't preach to people that their church is ridiculous in that manner. I don't think they should teach that, but they do. You hate on that act, go on. But i'll accept people. Maybe you're not Christian, then stay away from the church. You dont have to listen, you are not forced to. I also never said this guy was a moron, I said he was an idiot.
