Yep -the time I haven't been spending producing new EV Capri video episodes has been spent in the garage under the Capri... AND I got it done on my 6 month timeline!! (with more than a little help from my friends!!). While it's been running for a few days, here's what happened today when Mic (cameraman on EV Capri) got behind the wheel for the first time.

So now that the EV Capri is rolling, more episodes on 'the build' are on the way.

  • Heya, My batteries were bought before the big US financial meltdown - thus the price ain't today what it was in June 2008. Having said that, they were $7000 back then, with management hardware (you need that for LiFePo4 batteries). Price today? about the same - the dollar is worse, but the technology has become cheaper, so it's evened out.

  • Looks like fun! Now make us some more videos, dammit. ^_^

  • FINALLY! I was worried that 'Big Oil' had murdered you for developing a car that doesn't use Gasoline.

You're free, off the oil grid, what's that like?

  • @baldandold Was on the news they said 4 hours for 90km's.

  • whats the recharge/battery range?

  • Cool car there EV Playa.

  • Wow! Impressive! I've got a 1978 Datsun pickup truck EV. The kids say it sounds like the urban electric commuter trains in Portland (Oregon) when it takes off from a standstill.

  • seatbelts? So how many days does it take to charge from flat?

  • Hand built one at a time, electric beaters for a price, built by Kearon Electric. You prepay, he converts your beater. Apply on the detailed online form to have your project car considered! (just an idea for Kearon; not an actual invitation to you all)

  • Great job on this! You've inspired me. I want to build an electric vehicle now. Can you tell me how much you paid for your 45 batteries? The platform I will be using is a 3035lb car with a V8 engine which weight about 400lbs. There are a few other things I can do to lighten it but I'm thinking I'll need a few more batteries than you.

  • Nice job! Enjoyed watching your progress and seeing the hat fly off was a great inclusion for this video.

  • Congratulations, your hard work is paying off!
