Wade Davis, a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, presents a magnificent talk that highlights the beauty of the Sacred Headwaters in British Columbia, Canada. His photographs provide a unique perspective on the lives of those living in some of the most remote areas of this beautiful country, and present imagery of the scenery that we all know yet fail to appreciate.

TEDxUWO is the official TEDx conference for The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.

The theme of this inaugural conference was Own Your Passion. A total of 200 spots were reserved for audience members, while thousands more across the country joined via satellite locations and live video stream.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

  • The book is magnificent! A timely release when attention is on that region over proposed oil pipelines. Now that corporations have the rights of an individual in law, including a lower tax rate than an individual, are we drifting toward a scenario whereby corporate interests, in the name of jobs, government royalties and profit, supersede the rights of people and groups whose interests are in opposition to their agenda? I hope not.

  • This is something I truly believe we all must support in any way we can. First by praying for the sacred in everything to always be protected, next by sharing this information and next by buying this book and asking how best we can do anything else. Thank you Wade Davis and The David Suzuki Foundation and All the Native people's protecting your lands and the future of all humanity.

  • Man you talk sense! This talk has opened up a whole new world for me, a whole new avenue of ideas and thought.
