He was in the Pentagon receiving the wires about the Gulf of Tonkin. Read his book 'Secrets. It's a fascinating document written by someone who was present as history was happening. A majority of analysts believed the war unwinnable. If you're a V vet , read it.

Richard Nixon was far more of a threat to the constitution than Ellsberg. So was George W. for that matter.
