At 3:58 pm Attala Sheriff's Deputies. Mississippi Highway Patrol, MedStat EMS and Attala Fire were called to Hwy 35 South near the Leake county line for a report of trees that were downed by heavy winds. The caller advised that one vehicle had hit one of the trees. They were unsure of any injuries. Emergency personnel arrived to find trees down at two separate locations completely shutting down the highway One van, from Scott county, had struck one of the trees. There was what looked to be only moderate damage to the vehicle. Medical personnel evaluated the patients from and found no medical attention was needed. The patients refused transport to Montfort Jones Hospital. The Mississippi Department of Transportation was called to clear the highway to allow traffic to flow again.
