U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) delivers remarks on the Floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday April 14th, 2010 honoring the 29 coal miners who lost their lives in last weeks deadly explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine in Raleigh, W.Va. Rahall introduced a Congressional Resolution (H. Res. 1236) with Reps. Alan Mollohan (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV). Rep. George Miller (D-CA), the Chairman of the House Committee on Education and Labor, which has jurisdiction over mine safety, also cosponsored the resolution that honored the coal miners who perished in the mine, extended condolences to their families, and recognized the valiant efforts of emergency response workers at the mine disaster. The House approved H.R. 1236 by 409 to 0.
