I watched "Truimph of the heart" the Rick bell story today on Netflix. It was the first time I seen the movie in 20 years since the movie came on TV.

Nice to see 2 class acts both on and off the field. Ricky Bell would have put up some awesome numbers had it not been for his condition. Just like the Chiefs Joe Delaney, a true hero, taken from us much too soon.

For the record, Bell died in 1984 of heart failure caused by dermatomyositis. This is the author.
He did not have sickle cell or a bad heart. Its a rare muscle disease, and as we know, the heart is a muscle.
