Jon, you should really consider a Sony NEX5 for your next trip. Tiny. And delevers picture quality that is getting close to a D3S. I have one and it is just so amazing. And for the price, nothing beats it. But I'm sure you have enough cameras. (If there even is such a thing! :o)
