The design of the proposed Adaptive Wing represents an extending system and while bending down the area of the lower surface of the wing remains unchanged and the upper one—increases. It has clean, smoothly bending upper and lower skins without outer elements of mechanization. The mechanism insures the deflection of the trailing edge of the wing of 2° upwards and to 40° downwards.
Special joints fully hiding the device between the skins are not used on this model. See also Variable Twist Blades on:

Thats really awesome, but what is the purpose for morphing control surfaces? More aerodynamically stable? Im interested to know.
