This shows how to do the Erik Darling guitar lines on a detuned 12. Not as good as Erik, of course, but the price is right!
Also, I must say I'm talking through my stupid hat in the beginning. My poor 40-year-old memory of Gus Cannon's original was refreshed by actually listening again to it and discovering the 1-6-2-5 progression in plain sight. Please ignore my bloviations about "one chord wonders" and forgive me please, Gus, wherever you are. You were the original and best.

  • What an amazingly entertaining video-

Your voice is very pleasing and fun to listen to, and indeed your whole presentation is an excellent combination of instruction, charm, humor, and lore.

    Cheers !

  • @NorthTulsaBoy Well, thank you for all that, though I must repeat the caveat about the "lore"---please ignore my stupidity about Gus C's original, as I was simply talking through my proverbial hat!

  • "A double 12 string assault."

  • Indeed. We lost Erik last year, but his memory will live on.

  • Update: I just listened to the Rooftops' record and I see it's in A Flat! Which means them tricky rascals were actually tuned down a half-step, not a whole step. How about that.

  • bang on dude

  • An excellent instruction. I did a cover of this recently (I do some home recording for fun). I found that the original RTS recording had the guitars tuned to A-Flat, a half-step.

    Nice work here!

  • Alonzo you rock! You are perhaps the most creative player on the Tube. Love your sound.

  • hmm, a little too complicated for me, i think i will stick to my Simon & Garfunkel!
