The end of medium wave programming on Ireland's RTE1 - 567 khz. March 24th 2008, 3 pm.

The transmitter located near Tullamore in the Irish midlands ran half a million watts into a 290 metre tall guyed mast.

  • What is that MFJ box on top of your JRC? An antenna tuner?

  • Its an MFJ 1026 noise nuller / phasing unit - have a look at my other videos to see it in action.

  • Thanks, I thought it might be that. That works on MW frequencies? The specs say it starts at at the top of thr MW band, 1.8 mHz. I also have a the JRC NRD545 and it looks like you have my other radio there too, A BCD996T.

  • A very moving and touching tribute to RTE's 82 years on the AM band. I hope to hear it again when I get home sometime this week!
