Nice work!

@Mrwilwak wood ashes in water will make a lye solution, which does the same thing.

What are you rubbing on the hide when it is stretched out? Are you using sandpaper? if so what grit? I now have hide in alum and salt for around one week. so now I was going to oil and stretch. Is this when you sand flesh side? Then sew holes and after run over aircraft cable?
Thx. Great video. Probably first and last hide. too much work!!

Do you have to take off the hair and the top layer to tan a skin? Or can you tan it and have a finished piece of leather with fur?
-
how would you make that stiff for say a knife sheath
-
@Mrwilwak they would pee on the hide and do other methods..

yoyu are amazing. I have ordered some chemicals to tan a fox for my first tan. I am wondering if I should brain tan though for my first time. I'd love to just shadow you for a few months to learn all I am able to do from you. Watching youtube .... it seems you have the most knowledge and expertise in this area of tanning. Can I just pick up some brains from the local grocery store?
