@MuckyPup1969 it is very exciting to find out that many people watch this ahead of easter. I did so to catch some ideas for a special thing in our community for palm sunday.

Husavikur & katiepeters21 WOW. You guys need to stop bitching at each other and grab a Snickers bar.

@sloanpeters LOL "Jack Black" is funny. Hey, did you see "Fred" (from Drop Dead Fred) play the part of Herod? Rick also played an obnoxious punk in the BBC series called "The Young Ones". My favorite Herod is the one from the 1973 movie. I forgot his name but his son was also an actor, he was in that 90s movie "City Slickers".

@katiepeters21 If you stood by what you said: "Neeley and Anderson did the L.A. production together in 1972 and from there they were cast in the film" (From 1 month ago) then you would let it go at that but even when presented with your own quote, you cannot acknowledge it; that speaks volumes.

@Husavikur I stand by what I said. The were in the LA cast (noun) when they were cast (verb) in the movie. From being in the LA cast (noun) they were auditioned in several places where they were cast (verb) in the film. My use of the phrase "from there" means they were cast(verb) while performing the LA production in 1972.They were cast from the LA production, but I never said the casting took place in LA. Talk about someone who can't be wrong - look in the mirror!

@sloanpeters WOW. OK,here goes. It's obvious that you are a know-it-all and can't ever accept being wrong but I'm going to try to teach you a life lesson about lying and humility. Perhaps you can carry this through to your personal life.
This are quotes from you:
"Neeley and Anderson did the L.A. production together in 1972 and from there they were cast in the film" (From 1 month ago)
(and then today)...
"I never said they were cast in LA"
Grow up learn to say "Thanks, I didn't know that"

@sloanpeters Carl was brought to Broadway to split the role with Vereen when he developed serious vocal problems from the role. Vereen left the Broadway company, Anderson and Neeley left NYC for LA and Patrick Jude took over the role. Vereen never toured in the role of Judas, but he and Neeley reunited recently for a special fund raising production of Superstar in LA that featured Jack Black as Herod.

@MuckyPup1969 Carl was only Ben's understudy on Broadway. On tour Carl was the original Judas.Broadway Director Tom O'Horgan wanted Ted Neeley and Ben Vereen to play the leads. They had had been a very successful Claude and Berger in O"Horgan's LA HAIR. Producer Robert Stigwood wanted Carl and Jeff Fenholt because they had been together in the Concert Tour. A compromise was made and Fenholt became Jesus, and. Ben Vereen was Judas. Carl remained as Judas in the road company.

@Husavikur They were invited to audition for the film after being seen in the LA production by Norman Jewison. They were first paired together in LA as the leads and not the understudies. I never said they were cast in LA, I meant from doing the LA production they were noticed. considered and then cast. But it was the LA cast that started a buzz about the two of them together.
We're lucky Neeley showed up when he did.

@divxsamsung
This is before Carl Anderson. Ben Vereen was Judas. Carl was brought in from the tour to cover for Vereen when he developed throat problems.The Broadway production opened in October of 1971. Ted Neeley was Jeff Fenholt's understudy. Neeley and Anderson did the L.A. production together in 1972 and from there they were cast in the film
