To me, this is one of greatest recordings of this piece of all time.

Written from the composer's heart, this piece really 'hit's' the inner soul, wonderful performance by the orchestra under a brilliant conductor.Beautifully captured by the recording team. Chose this piece to be played at my wifes funeral, along with Pachabell's Cannon, found it very soothing as she was only 40 years old. Thank you for posting this wonderful version.

I am surprised that so many people can find this to be anything other than a very sorrowful piece. Truly the capacity of man for artistic interpretation is amazing! That said, I did not initially associate this piece with anything (Platoon, etc) and I have always thought of one word when listening to it - suffering.
