it's a party with the glory boys and babes of classic Venice. Callifornia. They were the surfers that made the art that made them distinctively rebel hell-raisers of the Left Coast, and to hell with the Olde World. And now, well, everyone is uh, kind of, olde. We do become our grandparents, do we not? (I wish my parents were like these folk in the feisty dept.) Then again, my parents have maintained detent forever no matter how much they hated each other!
But it's not about age because these artists are ageless. They are some of the most important artists to come from the Los Angeles, and specifically the Venice to Malibu art scene. They had all started their careers in the three seminal contemporary art galleries of the 50's and 60's - the Ferus Gallery, the Dwan Gallery and the Nicholas Wilder Gallery. Some of them are featured in the Primary Atmospheres Exhibition that opened at Nyehaus and David Zwirner Gallery (2010), and all of them are part of the art historical exhibition to come - Venice to Venice. Watch for new clips as we make the movie!

  • Looks like a hell of a fun party. Good to see Peter Alexander in there, and I'll take a dance with that nice looking blonde.
