Reno Air Race 2008 Unlimited Gold

Unlimited Gold race on Sunday. Strega, a P-51D Mustang piloted By Bill "Tiger" Destefani took first place at a speed of 483.062MPH. Second place went to Dago Red, a P-51D Mustang piloted by Dan Martin at a speed of 474.305MPH. Third place went to a Sea Fury, September Fury piloted by Michael Brown at 473.517MPH. At 1:12 into the video John Penny in Rare Bear can be seen climbing up as his engine developed problems and he called a May Day. John brought his plane down and landed safely. This was a "Balls to the Walls" race and the action was non stop there.

You can see Rare Bear was really making a move on 232 when the engine let go.

Look out for Dago Rad this year, they are really doing a lot of work on that aircraft at Hollister.
