She awakened consciousness to every Filipina to dream high in the global fashion world. She won the title to represent New York in the US Supermodel search but chose to represent her country. Soon after the country saw her commendable performance in 1986 Ford Supermodel competition, the Philippines started sending candidates to modelling competitions like Supermodel of the World, Elite Look of the Year, etc... Melanie is truly an icon.

thanks for posting, only got to see these shows a couple of years, never could find out when it was on, or if it televised. My favorite was Chris Jameson from Sweden.

AMAZING! The candidates aren't very good. Not very stylish or sophisticated.

China tripped a bit but SHE WAS THE MOST INTERESTING AND CAPTIVATING BEAUTY. South Africa was also very attractive followed by Italy. That would be my top 3.

Who won?

USA's outfit was HIDEOUS as was Germany's.

Base on what I know the philippine representative didnt like to represent the US here as she was face of the 80 us winner but backed out instead represented the philippines. But come on look at the way she executed as compared to monica schnarr of canada.
