  • I use tapwater mixed with purified water. And when mixing salt for an aquarium you have to let it sit in a bucket with a pump circulating it, if doing water changes. It wont instantly dissolve.

  • I was shocked to find out this guy recommends the use of tap water in a saltwater environment. I can easily see this video being misleading to new beginners. It's the first time I have ever heard anyone suggest this method but I would like to see how that tank looks 3 months down the road. So here's a challenge for him. To the makers of this video will you track the progress of a reef tank over time started and maintained with tap water? The people look forward to your response.

  • You can use tap water it doesnt hurt anything 250 gallon reef tank here using tapwater

  • @lawmanbaseball

Although true it is ok for the beginner.

  • DONT USE TAPWATER. Reverse osmosis is the only way to go

  • lol first guy thats not pushing RO/DI

  • Never use tap water lol gold fish maybe but i wouldn't even use tap water for warm fresh water fish, always use ro water and make sure it's gone through a di filter on your ro unit or buy water from any good marine shop.

This guy says he has a degree lol i think he went to the same uni as nemo lol aka clown fish or Amphiprion species.

  • @trameaa so you have a degree in marine biology do you? because this guy does so i think he knows exactly what hes talking about.

  • You should never advise someone to use tap water and dechlorinating drops for water that will be used in a saltwater aquarium (fish only OR reef), and salinity should always be checked with a refractometer after 24 hours of thorough mixing using a submersible pump and a heater that will match the temperature of the tank it is to be added to. If you aren't already aware of this then you have absolutely no business posting instructional videos online.
