  • What in the fuck is a PHYCARTRIST? Yeah, you sound like a real expert there.

  • i think that every treatment is effective to arthritis except conventinal medicines.

    rules of thumbs are......

    1:control your diet

2:and go tho phycartrist.(im sorry if i spelled it wrong )

    3:do massage on long term.

One should never go for surgery.

  • I had acupunture for my arthritis, I was part of a study in hospital, the relief I had was amazing. Only problem now, I can not get it in the NHS and I can not afford to pay for it. I wish I could, it was the first time I had relief in years.

  • After viewing goto Arthritis "Up Close and Personal"

  • The only way to determine whether procedures like this are effective is to perform controlled (as in "compared to a control group"!) studies that are double blind (to control for the expectations of patients) on randomly selected subjects (not just a bunch of people who already believe it the procedure).

This has been done many thousands of times, of course, and the published research shows OVERWHELMINGLY that acupuncture (and it's bastard cousin, acupressure) DO NOT WORK!

  • This arthritis story is a CLASSIC example of the psychology behind such nonsense. Someone treats a person with such elusive symptoms as pain from arthritis. The patient then goes about her everyday life for an unspecified length of time. When the pain subsides and/or functioning returns (OFTEN the case with arthritis), she believes it was the result of the "treatment" and is encouraged in her specious reasoning by the acupuncturist.

  • This is total nonsense. Anyone who would like the TRUTH about acupuncture should check out Randi dot org and/or Skepdic dot com. (By the way, WebMD is NOT a scientific source. But then, that just shows how much guys like this actually know about science. Look in the REAL scientific journals, and you'll find that it's based in INCORRECT assumptions about "meridians" of "energy" in the body that DON'T exist.
