@MzMeaghanB No, it's "The Day After". Hence the conspicuous absence of the word "Tomorrow" in the title.

@elshpen Thanks for your reply and what you say is not a surprise. Some things occured to me. Personability is a core competency in a manager and such competency contributes to promotion. Also such an open an inviting deameanor gives the person an opportunity to assess the mental state of others--are they distracted, preoccupied, angry? Will they perform well in combat--we don't think of such a luxurious workplace as a battlefield, but indeed it may be the ultimate one.

@wsmith68 I once worked as a civilian contractor in the Pentagon, and I can tell you that the higher the rank (both as an officer and a noncom) the nicer the person. I guess that once they had been promoted into the higher ranks they didn't need to prove how tough they were anymore. I worked in one office where a major general (2 stars) would come in every morning and offer to get me coffee!

I like your annotations. Thanks!

What makes this movie so damn depressing (besides all the mushrooms) is the fact that up until the attack sequence, it always seems to be overcast outside. If this was done deliberately by the director, then bravo. I think they wanted to make it so that there was meant to be no positivity.

@cobias I'm sure jerking off to nukes and ray guns is more satisfying than when you make love to Michael Moore's galactic size ass.

@stuntmanmike37 Left wing ? Hell yes. Commie ? No. Faggot ? No, Sorry bud , go troll for that for that elsewhere. Go back to jerking off on Ronnies Ray-Guns dead corpse fucktard.

Excellent post and you have good comments as well. I really like the annotations. You have a lot of stupid people commenting on this post...well, they are stupid. Enjoy the film you dummies and shut up! Again, very nice post...thank you.

@cobias War is stupid but people do it anyway...until each person on the planet becomes honest and fair, we'll need muscles, guns, a military, and the will to use each.

in case anyone's wondering and doesn't already know the footage with military officials and soldiers was taken from a wargame in 1979. Its is on youtube and is called First Strike and talks about what might have happened if the Soviets had launched a surprise nuclear attack. There is a short movie like film at the beginning and than afterwards discussion by experts of the time.
The General (I think you military guys are caling him the Commanding Officer, which givn his rank, makes sense). I cant help but come back and watch that guy--I wonder if USAF officers are like this in real life--so cool and polite: "Everybody stand easy. How is everybody today? Thank you very much. Do not fail to complete the review..." Lothar, I think his demeanor is professional-coolness, not non-chalance.

@wsmith68 My comment is not derogatory; I've stated before that calmness is a good trait for a man in that position. However, that does not detract from the fact that men like him held the heart of humanity in their hands, and saw it all as "following orders" and "doing their job"; *nobody* should have that much power.

I think the captions/notes add some valuable and/or interesting details alongside the movie - so thanks for the upload and for your input :)
