I don't disagree with that at all. The banks already knew that Fred/Fannie were under orders to purchase these loans. If you are required to make the loans that you know are bad but the Gov't will buy them, ANYONE would make the loans that improved their own position. Banks are in the business to make money. If forced to make ill-advised loans then you doctor to fit your needs to the best of your ability.

Oh dear...apparently it IS a bad thing to force financial institutions to give loans to those that cant afford them. Now WE ARE ALL on the hook for it. Freddie/Fannie bought all these worthless loans and now we, the taxpayers, are left with the bill.AND, where is the abuse? They were forced to give the loans or face lawsuits based on discrimination. If you were loaded, would you loan YOUR money to people that only made 40k a year? I think not. McCain bill in '05 was voted down by the dems.
