Supporters of comprehensive smokefree workplace law for New Albany, Indiana hosted a press conference this Labor Day weekend in front of City Hall to ask Mayor Doug England to sign the smokefree ordinance that was adopted by the city council on August 21st, 2008.
Smokefree supporters said that on this Labor Day weekend as the nation recognizes and celebrates the nation's workforce, nothing would serve to honor and respect New Albany's workers better than for Mayor England to sign the smokefree workplace law to eliminate smoking in all workplaces, including bars and restaurants.
Smokefree supporters in New Albany ask for Mayor England to stand up for protecting all workers from health harm caused by on-the-job exposure to secondhand smoke by signing the smokefree workplace ordinance and to reject calls from the tobacco industry and its allies for Mayor England to veto the smokefree ordinance.
