  • Hey Mike -- it sounds like you left off the "y" in 英. Did you mean to do that?

  • @poleag 英 is "ying" that's standard. Neither Peggy or I have left it off.

  • @Glossika Oh. My laptop speakers suck. It sounded like ing to me. Keep up the great work.

  • @poleag Don't you know that w and y are just pinyin spelling conventions? They are not pronounced before u and i respectively. The w and y can help separate syllables in compound words written together. That's standard Chinese.

  • @poleag The same applies for ü which is spelled yu for convenience.

  • @Glossika Right. I just started learning Chinese if you haven't guessed. Thanks for the info. I've looked at the pinyin rules but it's a lot to remember.
