This is a tribute video to our two golden retrievers whom we lost recently.

Giles was old and had very bad arthritis and back problems. After we had tried several painkillers we realised they weren't helping him any longer. To prevent his further suffering the decision was taken to put him to sleep at 12 years old.

His massive cuddly presence was missed by everybody, especially his buddy, Harvey.

5 months after Giles' death, Harvey became much slower and lethargic and acted like a typical old dog. At 10 years of age, we were a bit surprised, as he had been fit all his life. We took him to the vets just to be sure.
The next day we were told he has acute leukaemia. It has a very sudden onset and within 2 weeks he would have deteriorated until it was unbearable. We did not want him to go through this so we took him to the vets as soon as was possible and said goodbye to our Harv.

We miss both dogs everyday and the house is too empty without them...

The music (Happy Ending by Mika) was chosen because as I took Harvey his last ever walk, to the vets, it was playing on my iPod...

  • Cheryl,

What a tragedy to lose two such wonderful boys in such a short time. They looked like wonderful, wonderful boys. We got Buddy, our Golden, when our shelter dog died after an operation to remove a tumor. I still miss that fellow, but Buddy has helped to ease the pain. You never get over the loss of a canine friend, but it helps to open your heart to another friend who will love you. I hope you are someday able to rescue two more Goldens to help ease your loss. God's blessings to you.

  • =( wish them have good life in the heaven

  • Awww... Once a furry friend becomes a part of the family, the loss is just as tragic as losing a loved one... I know it was hard for you and your kids... But think of the love you were able to provide eachother..... Well worth the time spent with him.... I can tell he is still loved today!!
