Tiny Tortoise's Silly Sleeping Positions

Taco, our tiny Desert Tortoise, sleeps in some funny positions. We've seen her yawn, too! She was born in September 2009 and now (in April 2010) weighs 48 grams.

@TVWriterGuy We have another video up of Taco here on YouTube of her coming out of her burrow when we call. Check it out. We are smitten by her! She has blown away my expectations about what tortoises can do and we find her intriguing. It is like living with a sentient dinosaur (who won't eat us).

@MBsaturnus you opbviously have the intellect of a 5 year old if you think my previous comment was anything related to emotions, read next time dumbass, i simply said it means their content, just like when they raise their head up at you it means their Interested in something, turtles dont speak, they communicate their mood with body language like most animals, telling when your animal is feeling content has hnothing to do with "over complex emotions" or "over humanizing them"

@Lavos2007 you over-humanize them. turtles and tortoises are only reptiles, and can not develop that complex emotional functions (even if their owners wish, or actually think its like this. no its not)

@Weasel65 if a tortoise or box turtle sleeps in such positions it means their very comfortable, my eastern box turtle does some of these positions and thats how you know their relaxed and comfy in wherever your keeping them

My tortoise sleeps in funny positions as well, i get curious and worried so i poke him just to make sure he is still ok, proberly gets annoyed at me though lol.
