How much do you love animals?

I made this video today because I was offered a "Free Turkey" for Thanksgiving at my local market... and it upset me. "Free", Free for whom? How can we toss the word "free" around when we are speaking of a life? Animals are not commodities.

As a vegetarian, I am frequently asked the question "Why?" The answer isn't simple, and if you aren't exposed to 'farm' animals much, it is easy to put them out of your mind while eating them. I have volunteered for different animal sanctuaries, and this has changed my perspective on eating animals.

For me, it's about love for the animal. Besides the fact I don't believe that animal flesh, milk, or eggs are an essential nutrient to the human body... I believe that animals are meant to be left alone.

Many people say, "Yes, but does that mean it is wrong for a lion to kill a lamb?" Well, probably because Lions are from Africa and would hunt Giselle (not lamb). But seriously, no, I don't think it's wrong for a lion to eat another animal. Lion's are carnivores. Humans are not. So I ask the question... "Is it wrong for a lamb to eat a lion?" Yes, I think it is.

Through this video I wanted to show people what it's like to work at a sanctuary, and how eating animals can feel wrong when you work in this environment.

*I would like to note that I only brought my camera to work one day.... so I am lacking a LOT of valuable footage. Like, my favorite big brown cow...when lamberts leg healed... the ducks and chicks, etc.

So, here's a look inside of what it's like to work at a wildlife sanctuary. I hope this video opens the hearts of "animal lovers" who are on the fence about giving up animal flesh.
