When Forge Ahead Construction's Jenine Alexander and Amy Hutto built a 128-square-foot unit in Healdsburg, CA, they put their tiny home on wheels to get around the area's minimum limit. Since in Sonoma County a trailer can only be legally parked on a property on a temporary basis (if building a new home), Jenine and Amy spent a some time on the move.

  • I'll take it! How much?

  • @sonywalkman2 They were asking 25K. I'm not sure what it sold for in the end. You can see more on the place (with their for sale flier) in the related video "A reclaimed, recycled, passive solar, tiny house on wheels" (I've added it to video responses here).

  • @kirstendirksen

Why not just get an RV then? Things that make you go, hmmmmm....

  • @MPMiegersYT From what I've heard from tiny home owners, they build their own for a number of different reasons: an aesthetic choice, to tailor it to their individual needs, for better insulation for year-round living and because often it is the cheapest way to get what they want ( especially for those using all recycled/found materials like Jenine who I also profiled in the video "DIY home for less than $3500).

  • WHy did you sell it? Was it because of legal issues?

  • @AntisocialVirtuoso They actually built it with the idea of selling it. Jenine already has her own tiny home (See: "DIY home for less than $3500". It's here as a video response) and they both enjoy building tiny homes. Actually Jenine has a new one she built on a boat trailer that I will be posting in the coming month or two.

  • The house sitting where it was when the video first started seem to blend in really well. Not an eye sore.

  • When I first saw it I thought it was a green house.

  • The deal breaker for me....NO THRONE!.....

  • as i have grown older the idea of a much smaller home seems very inviting to me.......not to the extreme of this home ... but i agree with what they are doing ...its not for everyone .....but a alternative to some of us who want less in our lives

  • fell asleep between 3:02 to 3:32

  • Why bother? You can find used Atco trailers that are three times the size of this, for less than half the price. And you'd at least have something that's structurally sound and won't blow over in a stiff breeze -- something with an actual kitchen and washroom, that's at least built to some kind of minimum engineering standard.

There's a good reason for zoning laws and HOAs.

  • shes cute

  • @MPMiegersYT 1/3 the cost.
