Yes I noticed that too - the final 'Allegro Molto Vivace' is just played 'Allegro' here.
It's hard to say whether this was an interpretive choice or not...Silvia has fabulous technique (or, at least her more recent performances have displayed it...this was done a LONG time ago though.) But yeah, the last stretch is not exactly easy, with the fingered octaves and rapid crossings. But if you don't play it at tempo, it just totally loses its effect.
I calculate this recording was made in the mid to late seventies, long before the web was conceived. Shame about the film slippage, which doesn't detract from Silvia Marcovici's brilliance. We can only be grateful for the recording. A beauty such as her, with her fabulous dress-sense, must have created a sensation. One can only assume she found celebrity more than she could cope with. Otherwise she would be a household name, worldwide. Bravo, Silvia.
Ok, so I was listening to this while doing something else and when all that distortion at 3:15 came on at first I thought "What the heck is she doing?!" It sounded like she just started glissando-ing up for no reason which sounds incredibly ridiculous after hearing this concerto a gazillion times.
As for her playing... it's wonderful. I love her "attitude."
seems like she can express beautiful enough without breaking much of a sweat--very much in control of what she's doing, (insofar as that may be possible on a violin), get the feeling that there is even more to come from her.
