The style and his voice reminds me somewhat of Richard Thompson. I found out about him, after reading he once played in Taj Mahal's band. The solo in this very lovely song, for instance: Taj Mahal - Ain't Gwine To Whistle Dixie (live)

This is the same John Hall who wrote Half Moon for Janis Joplin and Power recorded Kate Wolf . He even played lead guitar for Bonnie Raitt . There have been more than a few brilliant moments in his career. I saw him play w/Orleans in their prime and will never forget the quality of that bands performance, they sounded like Nashville studio musicians.
