Snapping Turtle in back yard

Take a closeup look at the Snapping Turtle, an animal you may have seen in your backyard. Early Summer is the time of year when they're moving around as they're nesting. These turtles are listed as "Threatened" in Ontario because of the challenges they face in our urbanized world.

I was up near Algonquin Park once fishing. I was cleaning a fish on the shore and when I was rinsing my hands one of those came up and nearly took a finger or two. Poor little guy was just hungry though and must have thought I was dinner :)
