I live in Astoria, and think it as a great jump! Now people want to spend thousands of dollars on "more security" like there are hundreds of people just waiting to jump off the column. Sounds like a dumb idea to spend thousands of dollars to prevent something that likely will never happen again. And if he goes splat, the local ER would still have agreat story about the idiot that tried to jump off the column....
