That's actual from the intro to a race in 1985...before ESPN had "Speedworld", they called it "Auto Racing XX" and showed clips from various racing series.

he had a 50-50 chance to avoid it. turn left and miss him or turn right and crash. looks like he chose wrong. lol

No, on this case turning left may result even worse collision with the center of car. Remember, with that speed u wont make sharp turns and if you brake hard u will go straight ahead (thats what i think did happened).
