Its got 2 pickups, the split 'P' pickup just counts as one pickup, so there is no 'middle' pickup. The first knob is the volume for the P pickup, the second is the volume for the Bridge pickup (J pickup) and the final knob is the tone knob, not the bridge, which is why there was no output when it was turned on full and the volume knobs were turned down. Just thought I'd let you know! nice bass!

Learn a bit about the bass before you tell people what it does. It has 2 pickups, the p style is one. If you could turn half of it off, you wouldn't hear two of the strings.
Awesome bass though, I'm glad youre happy with it.

@biavbiav I play this bass in an A7X cover band. It does wonders.

@SOSMARIO2 i think that it's the average weight for a bass guitar, quite heavy. but i knew that weight would be a problem when buying a bass guitar, so i made sure that i bought a very wide and thick guitar strap so that it wouldn't make my shoulder ache so much, and i find the weight of the guitar just fine :)

@woohoo04 I purchased the Modern Player Jazz in Olympic White as the bass that you have that I wanted wont be in stock until 1/26/12 and I didnt feel like waiting to play. The Modern Player is Great however I find it kind of heavy at only 12 pounds. "Wimpy" but I see that the bass that you have that I wanted is also 12 pounds, do you find it heavy?
