I am playing a "Rhythmic Canon". A rhythmic canon is a rhythm (or melody) which is played across itself.

In this case I'm playing an Afro-Cuban rhythm call "The Cascara". I am playing the cascara in my right hand beginning on the count of 1 while also playing the cascara with my left hand but beginning on the count of 4.

Please excuse the poor sound quality as it was recorded on an ipad 2.

Thanks for watching.

Happy Drumming

Chris Brien.

  • Hi chrisbrien . Are you living in Hong Kong? Nice to meet you

  • @DrumKoon as sauronhall says: Yes I am. Nice to meet you.

  • I know this is very very difficult. We could not separate one brain to do (so many) different things. Is this just a challenge? Any application to our music? Why people like you try to do that?

  • @frankiemovie Of course this works. That's the whole point. It's not about trickery on the drumset.

I'm simply demonstrating it in a way so as each hand can be heard. if you listen to my piece Cascara you will hear me using the "Cascara Canon".

    Thanks for listening, Chris Brien.

  • My mind has now been blown!

  • @DavidPartay Great to hear from you David. Thanks mate.
