This country is not ours. It belongs to the wealthy. It's like a corporation and each dollar is like one share of ownership. Not a perfect analogy, but that's pretty much the way it works. It wouldn't be so bad, but each share is also a vote, not in politics, but in matters economic, which is what really controls our lives.
With the vast increases in productivity we've had over the past century, you'd think people wouldn't have to work so much nowadays. I remember when I was in grade school there was some book that talked about futuristic three-wheeled cars and 3-day work weeks, that sort of thing. Increases in productivity made this inevitable. But, the rich don't let you have that increased productivity. They take it for themselves and leave you to compete in the "free" market.
People say, "What's wrong with that? He's earned it." But Mitt's millions come from somewhere. He doesn't do any work and he makes $20 million. Somebody is paying for that. The rich use the leverage their money gives them to milk people who have to work for a living. You don't write a check to Mitt, so you don't think it's true. But the money comes from you. This is how the wealthy TAX us.
Romney is a great example of what is wrong with our system. He's a man who does nothing but suck productivity out of people who work hard to just get by. His greed is monumental and grotesque. And now he wants to be our president.
The issue isn't that Mitt made lots of money. This issue is that he milks Americans through his investments for 600 times what the average American makes working for a living. We are all Romney's slaves.
