asbestos abatement next door

May 13 2008 at 7:21am work continues on the warehouse next door. It sounds like a (bad) disco next door - bang bang banging on the walls. They've covered the window in my middle room (which will be bricked up once construction starts) with plastic.
They're doing asbestos abatement, and are wearing air filter masks. Hmmm - I'm sure they'll tell me if I should close my windows. Right?

Were taught not to walk out in public with suits on. It scares people, kind of like how your lurking through a window like a peeping tom affraid they might see you. Coward.

Oh honey - I waved at the guys as I started filming & they waved back; they knew I was there with a camera. I wasnt at all scared by the suits, just annoyed they hadn't told me to close my windows (as promised). I support them wearing suits to stay safe & obey local laws. One of the reasons professional hazmat teams like this one get big bucks for abatement is they know the rules, including being suited up (even in public!) with respirators. I hope they're all okay, long-term.
