@startrekkin58 Thank God (the part about Studio 33 not being named The Bob Barker Studio at the time anyway!)

Happy 87th Birthday Bob Barker!!

@startrekkin58 Both Bob and Gene used a ECM-51. However, Bob always kept his mic the shortest length while Gene extended his mic to the longest. By 1978, they cutomized an ECM-51 just for Gene: a chrome plated one with no telescopic features, a gem that even Bob Barker didn't have.

@HollywoodDerekPoop bob barker's not dead yet hes 84 and going

Bob said that he had to maintain a certain image when hosting Price. He said that he liked being a guest panelist on MG because he could show a different - and at times naughtier - side of himself.

I don't know how Bob Barker got away with cursing when he was on Match Game. He said "ass" in this episode and "shit" in another episode. I guess he has always been a foul-mouth off camera.
-
Did Bob just say he felt like an ass?

The Sony ECM-51 wasn't made especially for Gene. That model and similar microphones were common in the 70's...especially for game show hosts which often needed to manipulate the mic between themselves and un-mic'd contestants. I believe Bob used an ECM-51 on the early days of TPIR, he just usually didn't have it fully extended as Gene usually did on Match Game.

wow, he made the black man wait for commercial
was the microphone Gene is using the same one Bob used on price is right?

As far as I know, no. Gene's telescopic microphone was supposedly made especially for him. I believe it is a Sony ECM-51 microphone.

Now, did they film "Match Game" in the same studio at CBS Television City? I thought it was also in Studio 33 -- a.k.a. "The Bob Barker studio"

Yes, it was in the same studio. Bob mentions this in another episode, I think around 1975. Of course, at this time, it wasn't yet "The Bob Barker Studio."
