Easy Silence was written by the Dixie Chicks (Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison) and Dan Wilson. The song was written as a tribute to their husbands for their support after Natalie's less than favorable President Bush comment that sparked such controversy in the United States.
Shalene covered this song as a gift for her husband on his 33rd birthday. It was the song that sustained her and helped her feel close to him after he left for a 15 month tour to Iraq.
