whats your opion on using non 7.62 nato ammo for this rifle. cuz i want one really badly but i am a cheap bastard and if i got one i would use wolf. cuz winchester nato is like 750 for 1000 but wolf is 405 for 1000.

@dp665 There isn't anything cheap about owning a .308. However - this is my favorite rifle, and I've left it with the iron sights for reliability and ease of service. One time wolf ammo was jammed in the breech. If you were to shoot Wolf ammo consistently, I would suggest to also purchase a 2' x .25" wood or brass bar to potentially knock out a jammed round. I've had zero issues with any other ammo.

It is a Baddass little rifle! I own both a SOCOM16 and also a Loaded M1A. They are both amazing but I prefer the SOCOM. As the man said...the ultimate SHTF weapon. And now magazines are getting cheaper every day! Everyone want's one of these silly 5.56mm rifles...WTF??? I wouldn't know about the noise level...I own a lot of different weapons...but I don't shoot them without plugs!

Yeah, I love my SOCOM16, I'm actually having to send my stock into SA for shattering / cracking. My friend has the Scout Squad, and I'm dreaming of a loaded M1A w/ a walnut stock. Next 'Toy' is the S&W 460. ;) That will make for some good videos.

I've been thinking about getting a smaller handy rifle like an M1 carbine or a Ruger Mini-14 but when I saw the SOCOM 16 I knew I'd want it instead of those other two. It's a mean little rifle.

The ammo was 147grn barnul silver bear. It was FMJ and cheap. He had a single case swell and get stuck in the breech, and several of them would not cycle his action. The silver bear has a light charge and the shorter gas system of his socom didn't like it. My full length Scout Squad had no problems with wolf, monarch, barnul etc it ran it all fine. I've never had a malfunction till I put my suppressor on it. But that's different.
