In this clip Paul chows us the ability of a Swiss Ball to act as a flat, incline and decline bench for dumbell flys while reducing the lateral stability and increasing core and pelvis integration with the pecs.

In 1997 Paul merged free-weight training with an implement called a "Swiss Ball" (based on its rehabilitative origin of decades past) Now its a common place occurance to see a client working with these balls across the world.

  • Great exercise, kids at home make sure you look at working up to this one. Especially if you have had a recent anterior dislocation of the shoulder.

    Thanks for sharing Paul!!

  • I hear ya!

    Love and peace.

  • Ahh, I read it a few times before posting and well... sometimes late at night things don't read how they're meant to :)

  • That was my point. I said "Especially if you have had a recent anterior dislocation of the shoulder" because that is a terrible movement to do after such an injury.

My comment was simply to point out the risks involved to persons with such an injury. There are many people who will try an exercise without really knowing what it will do to them or what risks are involved.

I suppose I should thank you for reiterating my point.

  • If you've had a recent dislocation of the shoulder, this is an absolutely terrible exercise - i'm not sure why you'd think it would be even vaguely worth while?

With the shoulder in this position with external rotation and the arm moving into horizontal shoulder flexion is the weakest position of the shoulder and puts the most stress on the anterior capsule - which is definetly contrindicated for shoulder rehab.

If your a healthy person looking for something different go for it.

  • The amount of air in the balls will change the intensity of the exercise. It is great.
