thanks for the reply. digital media is good field.
our house is 100+ but the family has only owned this place for 40 years. i have mostly been a data base administrator and core switching guy like cisco stuff. i am thinking i will go back to teaching collage. it doesn't pay well but it's fun.
i like farming but these guys have too big of a head start on me.
Great video.

BTW...I did this really lame tagging thing that is all the rage right now and you were one of five people I tagged. Consider being lame along with me and responding to the vid!
Peace.

Sweet...you finally gave us that tour. And My Lord that is a huge operation. I just imagined some one barn one tractor type of thing. It would be cool if you could get your dad or any other family on cam sometime too!

She sure is.

Cool. Our farm operation was much smaller.
Thanks for the tour from SE Kansas. that is a similar set up to the guy that dose our place but he only deals with 5000 or so. how many hands do you guys keep around. why do farmers have millions in equipment and live in 100 year old houses? lol i see all that stuff and think man they have it made but they take almost no vacations and live in old small houses. our farmer is a cash carry type too. it blows my mind. i guess that grass is always greener.

I guess our farm is the exception. My Dad's house is only 50 years old, my grandpa built it. Although we still do have the 100 year old one, we store chemicals in it... haha.
As far as vacations, if you can trust the people that work for you, it is possible. Winter is the easiest time to take off, since its just machinery overhaul mostly. The rest of the year doesn't allow for it.
This is why I'm leaving the farming to my Sister, and getting a digital media degree.

Great tour! How many acres did you say you had? That John Deere combine near the beginning, was it self-propelled? We had one of the first self-propelled JD combines in our area back when I was a little kid. (The 50's) Also it was creepy looking inside that other combine because when I was a little kid on the farm (under 5 years old) I used to have recurring nightmares about going through the combine when it was running. Creepy hey?
Keep the vids coming. God Bless!!

Yah, I know all about creepy farming dreams. Not just getting chewed up by one, but having to deal with hundreds of them trying to run you over. Now that is creepy. Many more vids to come.
