Why is 'Looking For Someone' always overlooked ? Its one of the best things they ever did. Play that and 'Stagnation' over 'The Knife' any day
-
@fishybishbash ..yeah...Phil did seem to have a slightly wider range than Pete.....but he kinda sounded sterile and lacking emotion....that is, until his wife left him!

@TheOneEyedHound Anthony Philips, the guitarist who Steve Hackett replaced.

Who is the guy at 1:22?

"We had some minor success in Belgium....It felt like conquering the world at the time." Peter, you have always made us chuckle.

@adelamere1 Don't forget "Visions of Angels" Another masterpiece from that album. And, another very overlooked song. Stagnation is one of my favorites too.

@ArmorOfChrist777 Yep that about covers it..

rasp, power, emotion....

@LostLostClassics perhaps it was Phil imitating Pete, perhaps it became a natural thing just playing together, perhaps they had similar influences...perhaps a combo of all that!

My favorite of their 70s albums. Looking For Someone, Visions Of Angels, Stagnation, + this studio version of The Knife = all so great. In particular, the drumming and guitar solos are out-of-this-world. John Mayhew and Anthony Phillips - in key, on time, fast + furious, yet so unusual.

@fishybishbash - that part in the middle of Stagnation...it was like Peter Gabriel created Phil Collins' future voice. And it was on an album that was recorded before he was even in the band!
Is this from the boxed set?

@kamwrites from the Genesis Box Set (1970-1975). Each album has it's own Reissue Interview with the band members. This is only 10 minutes taken from the full 45 minute Trespass interview.
