In 1968 the abused, neglected and repressed American-Indian people fought back. From the depths of despair Dennis Banks, co-founder of the American Indian Movement (AIM), led his people into confrontation with the government and changed their lives forever. A stirring account of the forgotten Indian civil rights movement, this documentary recounts not only the struggle but also depicts the terrible repression they endured.

  • @fuckianallen Fuck you! who gives a damned about you moron!

  • The truth hurts, and the powers that be, and American society has a big problem dealing with the truth, unless it is sugar coated, and paints America as the white knight in shinning armor, which if you study the history of this nation, that is the farthest thing from the truth that there is.

  • @GabrielJD1179 Please also remember that all are created equal, men and women, black, white, red, yellow. all.

  • @GabrielJD1179 I understand that it is Indian law and I thank the Iroquois confederacy, as a woman for my right to vote. I thank them for the constitution. I understand that the government is in the hands of the people and I try to change that in all that I do. It's hard when often you fight alone. I feel like I am screaming and no one hears. Eventhough I am standing in front of them speaking.

  • If the untied states government was good...all men are created equal. there would have been no need for a civil rights movement. or any rights movement of any kind. the problem is not just in government, but the people who allow them remain in government. We The People. According to Russell Means, the constitution is based on indian law.

  • Why cant be shown in our region, copy right laws? or is it more truth than the average american can handle... or understand... or even comprehend.

  • What is with all the racist comments? Seriously, are people exposed to other races ever or are you grown in a petri dish and kept in a bubble? Stop the negative comments. The truth hurts. As someone who is white, I am trying to make a difference and give a legacy other than hate, murder, destruction, theft, rape, kidnapping, abuse and its hard when you have people who are so ignorant that they make my teeth hurt. Stop the negative comment against our native people. It's time we embrace them .

  • My daughter in public school wanted to do a project on the residential school system (we are in Canada) her history teacher didn't know what she was talking about and told her she would check into it. When her teacher got back to her she told my daughter it would be too confrontational and disturbing. Meanwhile the students were given a diluge in American history about civil rights and the slave trade. We didn't have plantations in Canada. The people that got screwed over here were the Indians.

  • @journeymanpictures is this dvd out yet ?? are can north america view it??been waiting......

  • Is there something we can do to change this? Please let us know...
