Although the player movement may look similar to the last videos, its code is completely rewritten.

Instead of using an irrlicht triangle selector & custom physics response code, it now makes use of a rigid body physics engine & a character controller for the player, which means he can do things like run through a load of crates and have them get knocked out the way.

  • It might not be, But it looks like it was made with 3d RPG maker by the look of the buildings.

  • @VoltageEntertainment

No, coded in C++ myself, in a custom engine written by myself. I also made the buildings myself :D

You probably recognise the tetxures used as they bare from a popular free texture collection.

  • where can i get this engine

  • you can't, its mine :p

it is based on Irrlicht & Newton game dynamics, though.

  • nice work.

btw, whats the theory/concept behind making the character move in the direction of the button you press.

Example: press 'W' and the character faces and moves fowrad (the character's back towards the camera). when u press 'S', the character faces the camera and moves in that direction. WHen you press 'A' or 'D' the characer faces left or right and moves in that direction. The character's movement is also relative to the camera.i have done researh on this but cannot find the anwser.

  • You pretty much just get the vector from the camera to the player... then you can get the force vectors from the movement keys by just rotating your player-camera vector around the Y axis.

  • fuck... even this looks better than animation in Skyrim...

  • @mercior Yeah, C++ does offer a lot of good ways to program, How did you make the physics work so smoothly though?

  • Hey, can you please ( i know, it takes a long time ) create a offline 3D Third Person RPG?

Please do it, im searching for a offline RPG 3d Thirdperson Game, but i cant find one! And this one looks fine! :)

  • We have a team of 4 people working on the game. I'm doing all the programming myself.
