Catalonia is an oppressed nation...
Catalunya lost its national rights in 1714, when it was defeated by the Spanish troops of FelipeV.
But three centuries later the Catalans even continue fighting by their rights.

A confederate State would be the best in Spain.
Just like in Switzerland with 26 independent States! and 4 official languages!
Instead of independence, ask for a federate State. An independent State in the current EU would be worse for Catalunya.
